Fantastic finalists and winners

On Saturday, August 18th 2024, students from across Hong Kong converged on Cyberport in Pok Fu Lam for the competition awards day, organised by Cicero Group

The FROM PLAYER TO PAGE WINNERS 2024

This year, there were students representing almost 20 different schools in the competition final. Of them, the six winners were:

SENIOR GROUP:

Category A - Ka Ho Kuan                Category B - Colin Ng                  Category C - Angus Cheung

JUNIOR GROUP:

Category A - Eva Chow                   Category B - Clyth Tan                 Category C - Ho Hin Chim

The students came from a whole range of schools across Hong Kong, including SKH Bishop Mok Sau Tseng Secondary School, St Pauls Convent School, The Po Leung Kuk Schools, Methodist College, and HKFYG Lee Shau Kee School. Members of staff from the schools accompanying their students were able to see them pick up the first trophies handed out as part of the competition, witness them collecting their e-readers and handheld gaming devices courtesy of Playasia and Panic!Inc,  and were able to get some great pictures in front of our wonderful backdrop!

Unlike other competitions, the only thing you need to enter is an interest in English writing - so take the plunge and join us in the next cycle of the From Player to Page Competition!

How are the winners chosen?

Winners of the competition are selected by a panel of judges from the Creative Writing Department at Lancaster University. Prior to this, the initial entries are assessed by a group of teachers here in Hong Kong who check the entries for fluency, accuracy, originality and audience awareness.

All students must complete an academic integrity form that is then signed by teachers or parents, attesting to the entry being the work of the student alone and not having been composed by a third party or developed with the use of AI.

Celebrating Past Success

Entering the From Player to Page shows a commitment to improving ones writing. Some students have won in past competitions, and that was true of Colin Ng, Cheuk Yin who won in the 2022 competition and was once again awarded a prize for his writing in the 2024 cycle.
